Remedial & Extra classes : For students requiring extra academic support, remedial classes are held on working Saturdays as well as in zero period.

Extra classes for Classes X & XII.These two classes are given special coaching throughout the year on working Saturdays and zero periods.

Extra coaching for students appearing for NTSE & JSTS.

TEACHERS ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES

In order to keep the teachers updated, the authorities encourage the teaching staff to participate in workshops and seminars from time-to-time.

1. Two primary teachers, Ms Charu Khanjou and Ms Satbir Majithia conducted a workshop for pre-primary and primary teachers of St John's School, Mayur Vihar. At the pre-primary level, focus was on the physical, social, intellectual and aesthetic growth of children while at the primary level, emphasis was laid on activity based teaching and developing language and numerical skills. This programme was well received by the teachers of St John's School.

2. Two teachers in-charge of the Eco-club, Ms Santosh Razdan and Ms Nivedita Sibbal attended a workshop organised by Development Alternatives addressing Environmental Issues.

3. A two-day long Professional Development Programme on 'Redefining Mathematics Teaching & Learning Through Technology' was attended by Ms Shailja Sharma of the Maths Department. The workshop was jointly organised by DPS R K Puram and Casio India Private Limited.

4. Ms Gita Jain, also from the Maths Department attended a workshop conducted by Shriram Educare on Maths Teaching in Primary School, which took a fresh look at some critical aspects that influence Maths teaching.

5. 'Taking Gandhi to Schools' - this was another workshop conducted by Gandhi Smriti & Darshan Samiti. Ms Sudha Chopra, senior teacher of the English Department attended this programme.

6. Ms Sudha Bakshi from the English Department attended a workshop organised by the Oxford University Press at St George's School Alaknanda. This workshop related to changes in teaching methods, curriculum pattern and marking scheme of core English course of Class XI and XII.

7. 'Project Citizen' is another programme that our School is associated with. Mr Hesper Thomas and Ms Nivedita Sibbal had attended a 3-day workshop conducted earlier this year. A follow-up programme to plan its implementation was organised by Ramjas School R K Puram and this was attended by Mr Hesper Thomas.

9. July 26, 2006 was a day of great pride for our school as three of our teachers were presented the 'Meritorious Teachers Award' by the Education Minister, Mr Arvinder Singh Lovely. A Subject Ability Test was conducted by the Society for Perfection in Education for Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology teachers of Classes IX and X. Teachers from forty schools appeared for this test. Ms Shailja Sharma bagged the 1st position in Maths while Ms Chitra Gopalan and Mr M M Thomas bagged the 2nd positions in Chemistry and Physics respectively. We are proud of our meritorious teachers.

8. Our Principal Ms Rema Alex Daniel attended a week-long workshop on 'Strategic Leadership for Schools in a Changing Environment' at IIM Ahmedabad. Various aspects of teaching learning processes were discussed articulating the Principals' role in enhancing effectiveness in schools. Topics like Introducing IT in schools, Teacher development strategies, Parental involvement, etc. were presented through group activities. The highlight of the workshop was an interactive session with the latest Management Guru, Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav, whose rustic common sense and witty repartee almost satiated the curiosity of the inquisitive audience.

PARENTS AWARENESS PROGRAMMES

A workshop for parents of children suffering from ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder) / ADHD (Attention Deficit & Hyperactivity Disorder ) problems, was organized by Dalmia group of enterprises and conducted by Ms. Ranjana Sood on 17 October 2003.

Keeping in view with the alarming information in various newspapers, related to deterioration of health of children, the school organised a global healthy wealthy wise programme, initiated by Dr. Ross Walker- the world famous cardiologist on 30 November 2003.
