Adolescence Issues
On 30th of June 2010, a workshop was conducted by Dr. Sanjeev Arora on Adolescence issues. He discussed certain behavioural problems in children, and the cause of the problem. He empasised on 'Stress' as the major cause of such problems. Dr. Arora also explained how stress produces a hormone which causes children to be hyperactive, defiant and as a result they throw tantrums.
Awareness About Breast Cancer
A workshop was conducted by Ms. Satya on 'Awareness about Breast Cancer', on 30th June 2010. Ms.Satya gave an insight into "Breast Cancer' and how each one of us are vulnerable to it. She also gave video demonstration on self examination and also informed about 'Mammography'.
Creative Use Of Newspaper
All the teachers of our school attended a workshop on 'Creative Use Of Newspaper' organised by Shilpa Bhwana from Hindustan Times on 29 June 2010. She gave an insight into the different uses of newspaper,which she categorized into 'hard form' - the physical form and the 'soft form' - information. The ideas were creative and easy to follow on a daily basis.
Effective English Learning Workshop on CCE Curriculum for classes VI to X
Ms. Reena Andrews, Ms. Ajitha, Ms. Ranjini Narayanswamy, Ms. Sudha Bakshi attended Effective English Learning Workshop on CCE Curriculum for classes VI to X at DPS R. K. Puram on 1st of May 2010. The aim of the workshop was to destress the children, assess them throughout the year, help teachers to maintain a record for the Formative Assessments, to empower the thinking skills of the students, self assessment by peers and various other techniques. Later they conducted a workshop about the same topic for our school teachers on 29 June 2010.
Project Citizen
Ms. Seema Wadhwa attended a workshop for Project Citizen at Ramjas School, R.K.Puram on 22nd of April 2010.The agenda of the workshop was to discuss and finalise the show-casing details and to make Project a part of the CCE format.
Earth Day Celebrations
Ms. Anju Sahni was a part of Earth Day Celebrations at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library on 10 April 2010. It was organised by Development Alternatives and NMML as the year 2010 is being celebrated as the International Year of Bio diversity. It included conservation, awareness and activities like nature walk, presentations and discussions.
Stress Management
On 23rd of March 2010 workshop was conducted by Ms. Neeta Mehta on Stress Management. She brought an understanding on how stress is "self - induced", how stress develops in a person's mind. She gave different scenarios as how we could respond to an event. She finally concluded by conveying to us how to manage stress.
Who Am I
On 22nd of March 2010 a workshop was conducted by Mr.Bijoy Goswami on the Topic "Who Am I". Some of the salient features of the workshop were:
- Teacher Should be a mentor
- Teacher should touch the soul of the children
- Teaching is not a job but a service.
Preparing for the Future
Ms. Charu Khanijou and Ms. V.Sangeetha attended a workshop on Preparing for the future, at St. Marks Senior Secondary School on 15th & 16th of March 2010. The aim of the workshop was to prepare the teachers for inclusive education, learn about disabilities and the importance of maintaining case studies, especially for first generation learners.
