Children's Day
Children’s Day was celebrated on 14 November. Teachers put up an interesting programme which was highly appreciated and enjoyed by the students.
Sanskrit Day
Sanskrit day was celebrated in the school premises. The chief guest for the day was Dr. Veer Sagar Jain, who is a professor in Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit Vidyapeeth(DU).
Bal Ramayana
Bal Ramayana was presented by the tiny tots of prep classes on 15 October 2011. The chief guest of the day was Mr. Shashi Dharan. Mrs. & Mr. N. Radhakrishnan were the guest of honour. Mr. Shashi Dharan appreciated the students and teachers for coming up with such a spell binding programme.
Road Safety Programme
SI Radhey Shyam, Mr. Lavania and other members of Delhi Traffic police conducted road safety programme in our school for sensitizing our school children and teachers towards following safety norms on roads. They in their own simple effective way delivered an excellent lecture and interacted with our school children covering all aspects of traffic rules in the interest of their safety on the busiest roads of Delhi. The school bus drivers and conductors were also covered with road safety lectures in an excellent manner by SI Radhey Shyam.
Malayalam & Onam Day
The Malayalam and Onam day was celebrated on 9 September 2011 in a flawless manner. The occasion was graced by Joy Konnayil, Secretary, International Kadhakali Kendra. During his speech he emphasized the importance of learning ones mother tongue. He enjoyed the cultural programme performed by the Malayalee children of class VI, VII & VIII. There was folk dance, a fusion dance, a semi classical music and a skit related to Onam.
St. Paul's School Celebrates Jr. ANNUAL DAY
The Annual Day of Junior Section of St.Paul’s School, Hauz Khas was celebrated on 2nd and 3rd September 2011 in the school premises. Honourable Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Women and Child Development and Languages, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Dr. Kiran Walia, Shri K S Sachidanand Murthy, the Editor of Malayala Manorama and the Week at New Delhi, Ms. Shilpa Pandey, the head and Convener of WILPH- Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, were the guests of honour on these days.
The highlights of the programme were a play ‘Cinderella’ which left the audience spellbound. The excitement of an Indian wedding named ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ presented by Class I students enchanted the audience. While ‘Retro Dance’ presented by Class IV students, mesmerized the audience and reminded them of the era of 60’s and 70’s, the dance performance ‘Awesome God’ reminded that God is omnipotent and sees no religion.
On this occasion ,Dr. Kiran Walia appreciated the scintillating performance of the children and expressed that she is very happy to see the progress of the school.
Shri Sachinand Murthy expressed his happiness in seeing St.Paul’s School as one of the most sought after institution by parents from all economic classes.
Ms. Shilpa Pandey appreciated the school for giving importance to extra curricular activities and values as well as striving for better academic performance of the students.
Independence Day & Investiture Ceremony
St.Paul’s School, Hauz Khas recently organized its Independence Day and Annual Investiture ceremony at the school premises.The ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Mr.Eldos Punnoose, IFS.The programme commenced with a prayer song presented by the English choir. The National Flag was unfurled to the tune of our National Anthem. A colourful March Past followed. The office bearers of the student council were honoured with badges. Group songs, group dance, gymnastic and yoga display were presented by the school students. On this blissful occasion the students excelling in their respective fields were felicitated with prizes. Arko Chatterjee of Class VIII, a Bronze medalist in Common Wealth Karate Championship for children , held in Australia was applauded by one and all. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks delivered by the newly appointed head boy of the school.
Kaleidoscope
St. Paul's school, Hauz Khas, witnessed a mega event called Kaleidoscope on 30 July 2011, in the school premises. It was also an open day for parents. This was a display of all the programmes that had taken place in July and culminated with this event. They had conducted the Model United nations conference, Science and commerce week programmes and a whole lot of activities organised by the various clubs in school.
The highlight of Kaleidoscope was the Model UN delegates dressing up in their country costumes displaying important features of the countries they represent; Literary club putting up a Globe Theatre enacting excerpts of Shakespeare's plays; Art and Craft, Science, commerce, Maths, Hindi, sanskrit, French department showcasing their talent through models, charts and plays; E waste management members bringing out the importance of E waste management; the famous cartoonist Mr.Ajit Narayan holding a workshop for students on cartoon making; Scholastic India book fair; student volunteers helping in health check up in collaboration with diabetes Foundation and Road Safety club members controlling the traffic in front of the school for a day.
Principal, Mrs. Rachel Thomas stated that the aim of holding such an event is to give the parents and students a glimpse of various activities conducted by the school to broaden the horizon of the students.
Model United Nation
ST.PAUL’S MODEL UNITED NATION has become an annual feature for the past four years .The aim of supporting such an event is to train our students to take on the world as a global citizens.
This two day annual event on 15th and 16th July 2011 ended with FM Radio Mirchi R.J Stuti Ghoosh presenting prizes on the closing day.
This multi-level program had two committees: UNGA that deliberated on The Return of Cultural Artifacts to Countries of Origin; and the UNSE agenda that examined ‘The ATS and Contemporary Issues of Governance of Antarctica’.
Our young delegates from Classes IX to XII brain stormed creative solutions on global issues issuing learnt from official sites of the UN and visiting Country Embassies in the city.
Self discipline, guided research, leadership skills, team spirit, diplomacy are only some of the learning outcomes that were honed. The students got to unleash their creative expressions through photography and film making as members of the international press and cub journalist of the SPS- Media club. Model UN infact turns into a major festival with school catering meals for participants and teams creating theme based A/V supported music on Peace and ANTI-WAR songs. The SPS-ALLUMINI members supported the event too; Ex- Paulite and Doordarshan anchor Charu Kartikya presided as Secretary General, Nitin Sarsan [director UNSC] and Alphy Geever [director UNGA], all of whom took time off despite their pressing engagements for supporting their school. Former students Ashley Stephen and Akanksha Aggarwal spared no stones unturned to train our MUN delegates. The teachers of social science department worked hard for months to give their subjects a living dimension.
UKIERI Visitors At St. Paul's School
Miss Michelle Parsons and Miss Leanne Birley from Blaise Primary School, Bristol, UK, visited our school on the 8 & 13 April 2009, as part of the UKIERI visit of the Confluence Cluster involving UK and Delhi Schools, to work on the topic 'ENVIRONMENT'. They were welcomed by our Principal, Mrs. Rema Alex Daniel, and they participated in a special assembly. They also watched a Flash presentation by our students on 'Toxics' and participated in the teaching of the subjects like Science, Social Studies, English and Maths at the primary level. They also were very happy to observe some senior classes and Science and Computer labs. On 8 April 2009, the visitors were escorted by two teachers from our school to Akshardham Temple which they enjoyed a lot. They were also taken to Dilli haat so that they could buy some Indian souveniors for themselves. They were treated to a full Indian lunch on both the days they visited our school.
